'Shibuya Machine' - Oni Animation Loops

Animation loops for the Oni enemy from my Shibuya Machine college project. Were I to work on this now, my first plan of action would be to create a better puppet-rig for the character than I had on my first time working on it. The rig caused all sorts of general issues for me, and made the process of animating the character far harder than it should have been.

The idle animation - much like those of the protagonist, I wanted to keep the Oni's animations relatively simple and self-explanatory. For the Oni, this was primarily on account of its somewhat complex puppet-rig.

As rough as I find this animation now, I feel that this walk-cycle was a good first-time learning experience for learning quadrupedal animation with Animate puppets.

The attack cycle of the Oni was interesting to animate, simple though it may be - I felt that this was the most logical of the animations I had devised for this cycle, given the enemy's size and evident weight.

The jump-cycle I ended up devising for the character was overall quite 'floaty', which did not fit the character's visuals; I feel as though I could have done this better, in hindsight.
